Management Team

Paul McKendrick
CEO and Founder

Paul has over 25 years of experience in power generation development and financing, oil and gas, investment banking and commercial real estate. He was a co-founder of BowMont Capital and Advisory, which focuses on developing and financing power generation projects.

Gord Brasnett
Director, Geosciences

Gord is a professional geoscientist specializing in geothermal resource assessment and subsurface analysis. He has worked extensively on mapping geothermal potential across Alberta and evaluating the techno-economic feasibility of geothermal energy projects within the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin. Most recently, Gord was a Fellow with the Cascade Research Institute, where he integrated geophysics, reservoir characterization, and economic modelling to identify commercially viable EGS opportunities.

Jackson Hegland
Advisory Board Chair

Jackson Hegland is the Founder & CEO of Modern West Advisory, which has sponsored Eonic from its inception. Modern West is a consulting firm formed in 2016 that is focused on methane management, greenhouse gas accounting and lifecycle analysis. Jackson is the founder and Board Chair of the Methane Emissions Leadership Alliance.

Gord Plouffe
Chief Operating Officer

Gord is an experienced drilling engineer with expertise in well planning, drilling execution, and completions across Western Canada and internationally. He has been involved in numerous drilling campaigns and brings practical field experience in delivering complex wells safely and efficiently. Most recently, Gord was managing drilling operations for a new unconventional play in the United Arab Emirates for Petronas and he has previously led drilling operations for Ovintiv, Jupiter, ARC and EnCana.

Phil Hosty
Director, Facilities

Phil Hosty is a senior process engineer with significant experience delivering large industrial and energy infrastructure projects. His background includes engineering, project management, and execution of complex projects requiring coordination across technical teams, contractors, regulators, and investors. He brings extensive experience in advancing projects from early-stage development through engineering and construction. Mr. Hosty has previously worked with Carbon Alpha, Jupiter Resources, Repsol, Jacobs, AMEC and Flour.

Janet Annesley
Advisory Board Member

Janet advises the Company on public relations, government relationships and corporate strategy. Ms. Annesley is a nationally recognized authority on sustainability, corporate strategy, and energy transition. She previously served as Chief Sustainability Officer at Kiwetinohk Energy, an energy company that developed low- and no-carbon energy projects—and drilled the longest well in Alberta history at approximately 9.5 km. Over the past decade she has led strategy, investor relations, policy, and stakeholder engagement on some of Canada’s most complex energy and climate issues. Janet previously served as Chief of Staff to Canada’s Minister of Natural Resources and held senior executive roles at major Canadian energy companies, including Shell Canada and Husky Energy. She serves on several boards and advisory bodies, including the Transition Accelerator, Public Policy Forum, Export Development Canada and the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology. Janet has been recognized among The Hill Times Top 100 most influential people in Canadian politics and government.

Mark Woitt
Director, Wells

Mark is an experienced EGS professional with decades of experience in well design, completions, and field operations. Most recently, Mark spent seven years with Fervo and was involved in all aspects of well design, procurement and interventions for Fervo’s EGS wells. Over his four-decade career he has been involved in the drilling and completion of numerous wells across multiple basins, providing deep expertise in well design, operational optimization, and completion technologies applicable to geothermal systems.

Steve MacDonald
Advisory Board Member

Steve advises the Company on government relations and corporate strategy. He previously served as Chief Executive Officer of the Emissions Reduction Alberta, where he led one of Canada’s leading clean technology funding organizations and oversaw major investments supporting emissions-reducing technologies across Alberta’s energy sector. Prior to his role at Emissions Reduction Alberta, Steve spent several decades with the Government of Alberta in senior leadership roles, developing expertise in energy policy, economic development, and government engagement. His experience provides the Company with valuable insight into public policy, regulatory processes, and strategic partnerships supporting large-scale clean energy development.
